World

Introduction[edit]

The Langrisser series introduces the player to the world of Gaia.[1] This world is similar to ours, with various bio-domes, but it differs in other significant ways. Orbiting Gaia are two moons, Crimzo and Pelia.

The series also shows clearly defined planes of existence. Outside the mortal world is the abode of the dead, Limbus, the heavenly realm, Neo Gloria, and the Domain of Chaos.

As the series takes place over the span of at least a thousand years, there are natural changes in features. As such, the following list will, at points, repeat names and links to articles, at times under different names, to help show some of the changing nature of Gaia, specifically the lands of El Sallia.

Orbital Bodies[edit]

  • Gaia: The name of the world on which the Langrisser series takes place.
  • Crimzonia: The Red Moon and the location of the Choas gate, every 200 years it can be seen in the skies but is a portent of evil.
  • Pelia: The Blue Moon, originally an artificial satellite that became the main moon of Gaia after Crimonzion was knocked out of orbit.

Main Continents and Lands[edit]

The Changing Lands of El Sallia[edit]

As noted, the land of El Sallia is shown throughout a period of at least a thousand years through Langrisser I-V. As a result, there is a natural change in political divisions. For example, while in Langrisser I Baldea is a central kingdom, in Langrisser II, Baldea is nothing more than a relic. Moreover, the maps featured in Langrisser I&II differ dramatically from those in Langrisser III & V. According to one guidebook, the differences between the maps of Langrisser II and Langrisser III are due to earthquakes and Tectonic shifts.[2] However the map in Langrisser V further complicates things since its features a map of El Sallia that reflects the one seen in Langrisser III. Interestingly enough, Langrisser Mobile appears to follow the map of El Sallia seen in Langrisser 2.

Classic Series[edit]

As the series spans over a thousand years, the following will list major political divisions during the series and other major locations.

Langrisser III[edit]

Langrisser III takes place on the eastern continent of El Sallia. Five major players take part in the theater of war.

  • Kingdom of Larcuss: The most wealthy nation in El Sallia, while it boasts a large army, its most impressive feature is the floating castle.
  • Kingdom of Barral: A kingdom located to the south of Larcuss. It has long been allied with Larcuss. It is ruled by King Wilder, who is widely considered to be a kind and generous ruler.
  • Rigüler Empire: A powerful empire to the north of Larcuss. While it boasts a strong military, it lacks essential resources, a major reason it invades Larcuss.
  • Kingdom of Colcia: A small country west of Larcuss. It will use Rigüler's invasion of Larcuss to launch its own invasion.
  • Velzeria: A mysterious country to the northeast of El Sallia, it is ruled by a seemingly old man, Boser, who makes use of his three demonic generals.
  • Railym Mountains
  • Yamato

Langrisser I[edit]

During the days of Langrisser I, four major countries were involved in the Art of the Swords War.

  • Baldea Kingdom: Ledin's homeland was one of the most powerful nations in El Sallia until it fell to Dalsis. The royal lineage is descended from ancient heroes who have protected Langrisser throughout the ages. A task it still upholds.
  • Salrath Dukedom: A small dukedom and close ally of Baldea. Its ruler was quick to provide aid to Baldea.
  • Dalsis Empire: The most powerful nation in El Sallia, ruled by Kaiser Digos, whose ambition is to unify El Sallia via military force. He invades Baldea to obtain Langrisser to fulfill his ambition.
  • Velzeria: A country to the northeast of El Sallia known as the home of the Demon Tribe who worship the God of Mayhem, Chaos. Böser, the prince of darkness, rules it.

Langrisser II[edit]

Like Langrisser I, in Langrisser II, four major players exist in the Raygauard Wars.

  • Kingdom of Kalxath: A nation that reigns over the western part of El Sallia, it was founded by knights and boasts a long history of military power. It is the only country that can stand against the forces of Rayguard.
  • Rayguard Empire: The most powerful nation during this period, ruled by the former mercenary turned emperor, Bernhardt. With his four generals, Bernhardt seeks to rule over all.
  • Salrath Dukedom: A Dukedom that has existed since the days of Baldea. Now ruled by Duke Loren, it is one of the few countries that have resisted the Empire. Salrath chooses to cooperate with Kalxath.
  • Ruins of Baldea: The country of Baldea is gone. All that remains is a lake where the castle once stood.
  • Velzeria
    • Underground Passage
    • Velzeria Castle: A country to the northeast of El Sallia known as the home of the Demon Tribe, who worship the God of Mayhem, Chaos. Böser, the prince of darkness, rules it. Böser seeks to warp Bernhardt's ambition.

Langrisser IV & V[edit]

Langrisser IV is set on the western continent of Yeless, where there are two major powers at this time: Regenburg and Caconsis. While Langrisser V occurs shortly after, it involves both Yeless and El Sallia. V Deals with seven major players in its theater of war, spread across both continents.

El Sallia[edit]

  • Kalaxth Empire: The kingdom of Kalxath has grown in power to become the major political power of El Sallia. Currently, its princess is missing, and Gilmore, the former Prime Minister, has declared himself the Kaiser.
  • Velzeria: The Demon Tribe's country, despite its weakened state it still attempts to disrupt the world's countries.

Yeless[edit]

  • Kingdom of Caconsis: An economically strong kingdom that controls many trade routes with El Sallia but is ruled by a politically weak king. To have peace with Regenburg its princesses are royal hostages.

Alternative Worlds[edit]

Langrisser Tensei RE:Incarnation[edit]

Although seemingly set in the same world as Langrisser I&II, the lands of RE:Incarnation are far different. But this is partly because a severe ecological disaster has struck.
